Show and Tell: Mig Reyes

A few of us designers just got back from PSU’s Show and Tell series. This week’s guest speaker was Mig Reyes, web designer from Threadless. In addition to working at Threadless, Mig also freelances, teaches, is the social media liaison to AIGA, and runs the site Humble Pied, where people in the creative industry share advice via video chat . Basically, he’s the graphic design equivalent of Ryan Seacrest. Through the magic of Skype, Mig spoke to us from the Threadless headquarters in Chicago and gave us a tour of their office, starting with the Jetstream, on to the warehouse, and then upstairs where we got to meet the rest of the Threadless team (all instantly recognizable as Threadless models) where he was bombarded by darts and dollar bills. When asked how he began doing all the things he does, Mig said that you just have to do stuff that interest you and not wait for permission to do it. There’s definitely something to be said for being a self-starter.
Thanks, PSU’s graphic design department for letting us crash.
P.S. Mig’s working on a redesign of the Threadless homepage, so keep an eye out for that!
